It started with biltong
Not long after we met, Donwynne introduced Amy to one of his favourite South African snacks. The only problem? The biltong we could find was tough, chewy, made with poor-quality beef and left a weird powdery film in your mouth. Amy hated it.

So we made our own
Worried she had offended Donwynne, Amy suggested that maybe she would like biltong if we made a cleaner version ourselves. So we bought a small countertop biltong dryer, used better beef and simpler ingredients, and made our first batch at home. This time, Amy loved it.

Then people asked for more
We shared the surplus with our local community, and the response was incredible. People loved it, came back for more, and we realised we had created something worth building. But if we were going to start a business, it had to have purpose.

Biltong with real impact
We did not want to use anonymous beef or support conventional systems we did not believe in.That is when we found Farm Wilder, helping us source British beef from farms working in a more natural, regenerative way. What started as a taste of home became Inyama: South African biltong, made with regeneratively raised British beef — created to taste good and do good too.
