About Inyama Biltong: Our Story and Mission

Welcome to Inyama Biltong, your go-to destination for delicious, authentic biltong in the UK. Our story is as unique as our biltong, starting with a simple kitchen experiment and growing into a beloved local brand.

When Amy and Don met, Amy had never tried biltong, while Don, hailing from South Africa, couldn't live without it. One day, Don offered Amy some supermarket biltong, and she absolutely hated it. It was loaded with weird ingredients and left a strange aftertaste. Don, slightly offended, watched as Amy, in a moment of panic, blurted out, "Let's make our own without the weird stuff, and maybe I'll like it."

Challenge accepted! They bought a small dehydrator online and started making biltong in their kitchen. To Amy's surprise, she loved it! They made more than they could eat, so they posted on their local community Facebook page to see if anyone else wanted some. The response was overwhelming. Within three months, they had to rent a local kitchen unit at Crabhayes Dairy Farm, just 1.5 miles from home, to keep up with the demand.

From the beginning, Amy and Don were committed to doing things right. They chose to source beef from local, regeneratively-run farms where cows are pasture-fed and finished. They also sought local ingredients whenever possible, using Willy’s Apple Cider Vinegar and spices milled in Somerset by a fellow South African. Supporting local businesses and farmers is at the heart of Inyama.

And here’s the best part: everything is done by Don and Amy. Every slice of beef, every mix of spices, and every batch of biltong is crafted by their hands. Nothing is outsourced. They literally do it all to ensure the highest quality and authenticity.

At Inyama Biltong, we’re passionate about delivering the highest quality biltong to our customers. Our biltong is made from the finest cuts of 100% pasture-fed beef from regenerative farms across Devon, expertly seasoned with our secret blend of spices and air-dried to perfection. With absolutely no added sugars, our biltong is not only great for you but also great for the planet!
